What does success look like? Joe B’s Blue and Evil. 😈 😉 you have to listen now.

But really, this was great. Do you find most artists don’t really know who they are trying to appeal to or are trying to hit all three which is nearly impossible? Curious - in your opinion- which is most likely culprit of delayed “success?”

It’s usually a bit of both. Artists want desperately to be loved and seen and appreciated…in turn, they will try to appeal to a wide variety of different groups. By doing this, they usually dilute the thing that makes them special or end up in the bland/non-descript zone or just make a very conflated thing. The discipline to me is to really understand the appeal of what your particular magic is and who it vibrates with. Then just run all the way at that. This goes beyond art and entertainment. It’s a communication tool. As a producer if I can empathetically understand who an artist is speaking to, it becomes easier to elucidate what they want. Then it’s just about delivering. Glad you enjoyed it. jm
