hit pause when you gave the directive - find the album ✅ find the song ✅ find the downbeat 1 ✅

I intentionally just picked a song from 90s that I remember being such a wildly big hit for the artist and chose Ants Marching. I distinctly remember this song scratching an itch, because it felt so completely different from everything else. It has so many instruments that didn’t normally make mainstream radio. It was full of lyrics. So many lyrics that you couldn’t learn the words right away but it still had a hook. So I thought it would be a good test to see if the formula worked. I didn’t listen to song with new ears to see what happened once chorus arrived. Instead, I fast forwarded directly to minute ONE to see what happened.

1:02 it happened. “Take these chancesssss”

Entirely different voice. 🤯

Massive amount of people connect.

The only thing that didn’t happen was using song title in chorus. Dave buries it.

Pretty crazy, right? It’s wild. I was a major doubter at first…but it just keeps happening. Grateful for your joining this journey. Gonna be fun. :)

One song from that artist where the enchilada applies…and I’d be curious as to the chart performance difference (quantitative not qualitative) between these two songs…Crash Into Me kinda does the whole thing.

Funnily enough, just looked. Ants Marching hit #21 on Billboard radio charts. Crash Into me hit #19 on the Radio charts. Slight difference but interesting.

Great example. Thx for contributing to the conversation. jm

You are right!

This is addictive. I hope I can still hear music the “old fashion way” now 😆
