Just started listening to this essay, so don’t know if you talk about it… but a big chunk of the 2nd act, the whole Sensai Sergio and his “underground tunnel” movement of trying to get his community to safety while Ghetto Pat is oblivious to it all and everything in that moment is about himself and charging his phone… that wasn’t in the script. When Benicio Del Toro signed on for the film and went and spoke with Leo & PTA… he basically gave them that idea in like an hour of them talking.
Just so incredible.
